I Am, Who I Am

You can adorn yourself with someone else’s feathers, but you can’t fly with them.

I Am, Who I Am

Not to be who we are,
It’s not a robust desire,
We want to be and be part of it,
To eat, to smile and love,
Poppies around the world to plant,
Harvest respect with resolve,
In something, finally triumph,
Or at least have the right to fantasize,
Because I am who I am,
I’m going slow, but I’m going,
My bare feet,
My broad shoulders,
They carry a noble heart,
If I love, I really love,
If I ignore, I just ignore,
For my soul knows no abhorrence,
I’m a faithful dragon hunter,
And translator of the language of birds,
Defender of penguins,
Of the native Indians and the Maroons,
A paper airplane pilot,
Well, creativity and imagination,
They’ve taken over my tales,
trained to protect our own,
Of the powerful they, or the corrupt of those,
Finally, I found my place,
I’ll defend our humble youths,
Also, to the horsemen of love,
And their self-sacrificing squires,
English, Spanish, and brave Scotsman,
A warrior and I’m still standing,
I have accepted my fate, and I will never settle.

Blessed be your lives!
